This Sunday marks the start of the U12 Leicestershire Foxes League as we make the short trip to face Rothley Imps U12 Raptors.
I couldn’t be prouder of how the lads have approached pre-season. Training has been sharp, the effort has been first-class, and the boys have done really well to blend our new faces into the core of last year’s squad. We’ve spoken a lot about playing on the front foot, using our pace and passing to stretch games, while also making sure we’re organised and disciplined at the back.
There’s a real buzz in the group. We’ve got plenty of attacking options who can cause problems, and a defence determined to set the tone early. Our big focus over pre-season has been teamwork, energy, and discipline – and I know the players are eager to show how far they’ve come since last season.
We know Rothley will be a tough opponent, especially on their own pitch, but our aim is to go there, play our football, and make a statement on the opening day by bringing home those first three points.
The first game always comes with a bit of extra energy and nerves, but it’s also a brilliant opportunity for the boys to set the standard for the season. I’m looking forward to seeing the hard work pay off – and with the support from the touchline, it should be a fantastic game of football.
